Welcome to RMBC

The Rocky Mountain Buddhist Center is an autonomous center of the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order, a worldwide Buddhist movement dedicated to expressing the Buddha's teaching in ways appropriate to the modern world.

Most of the activities of Rocky Mountain Friends of the Western Buddhist Order are held at the Rocky Mountain Buddhist Center, located in a large house near downtown Missoula. In addition to rooms for meditation and meetings, the Center also has a bookstore and library of books and tapes. Instruction in meditation and Buddhism is given regularly, at levels appropriate for beginners as well as experienced practitioners.

Sangha Night is the most important weekly event at the center. Sangha is a word meaning "spiritual community" and refers to all those who are striving to put the Buddhist principles of awareness and love into practice in their lives. Anyone who has a connection with the center is freely invited to come to Sangha Night as we explore different topics and their connection to life and practice. The evening starts with tea at 7pm, and ends at 9:15. We have an ongoing program of talks, seminars, presentations, and workshops in which we explore how to deepen the effectiveness of our practice.

The Center also has ongoing programs, retreats, talks and other opportunities to practice. For the most current calendar of events please check our program page or news blogger. Thanks for stopping by!
