Meditation Workshops

Coming Soon to a Buddhist Center near you...........

Every year we look forward to the visit of our good friend, Dhammarati. This year his visit will span over two weekends -- the last weekend in January and the first weekend in February. This year, Dhammarati will lead two weekend day workshops focusing on meditation and give a talk at Sangha Night February 2 tying the two weekends together. The exact days and times of the workshops are still being worked out, so know that something exciting and worthwhile will be happening on these two weekends, mark it on your calendar and stay tuned for more details.

Dhammarati has been teaching meditation for over 20 years, and was closely involved with setting up the successful meditation teaching program at the London Buddhist Center, one of the largest in Europe. He is now president of Buddhist centers in San Franciso, Seattle, Missoula and his native Glasgow. Born and raised in Scotland, in his twenties he worked as psychiatric nurse and has a degree in graphic design from the Central School of Art, London. He was chairman of the London Buddhist Center from 1985-94, during which time he developed the organization, the teaching syllabus, did a lot of teaching, and lived in various communities ranging from two to twenty-five people. He left to concentrate on graphic design for some years, before becoming president of the above Buddhist Centers. In the late 90's he joined the men's ordination team of the Western Buddhist Order in Birmingham.

SANGHA MEETING

January 19, 2004
7 - 9 pm
Potluck Dessert
Once again, it is time to gather the entire Sangha. We tried a new format this past Fall with no introductory classes, focusing on deepening our practice. We offered one meditation retreat in September and a ten-week intermediate Dharma course taught by Varashuri. We continued the morning meditations during the week, adding Yoga after meditation on Mondays. Sangha Nights flourished with Pat and Tom leading weekly discussions on meditation, and once a month Henry led a Sevenfold Puja.

On Wednesday January 19th, we will gather to report-in on how effective or not the last six months were, and then look to the future. What classes would you like to see at the Center? What would you like to be involved in? Is there anything you would like to lead or facilitate? Bring a dessert to share and join us for this continued discussion on the future of the Rocky Mountain Buddhist Center. For more information or questions, please call 728-9232.
